The Journey Continues

Before beginning each painting, the wood is carefully studied. The strength of the wood's surface allows for the exploration of many application techniques. In the digital age, my work reflects a true art and its relationship to the imagination.

The childish, dreamlike settings portrayed are influenced by such films
as E.T. ,The Goonies and Labyrinth. Themes are reinforced by history, literature, pop culture and personal experience. The relationship of what can be seen and what is missing may cause the viewer to misinterpret the story, the Hero's Journey.

Storybook characters often travel beyond the picture plane. This implies a sense of mystery. As the panels come together, the resulting picture is a story of deception, intrigue and ultimately wonder.

Ericca Davis is a native Iowan. She received a BA from Grand View University in Commercial and Visual Art.
