Michael's bio and artist statement 

"A native of Pella, Iowa, Michael Van Dyke is an artist searching for connection between the unconscious mind and the conscious ability to create. Studying the creative arts and furniture at Iowa State University, Michael found a connection to artists such as Pollock, de Kooning and Kandinsky.  While studying their work, Michael began to see the combination of the conscious and unconscious minds employed.  By working through the progression of focusing on abstraction to the freedom through expressionism, Michael begins this new series as a reflection of the legacies the Abstract Expressionists leave behind, with Michael’s own twist."
