Confluence Brewing Company and Peace Tree Brewing Company come together to take over all of our taps at The Lift. Some beers you may have had and some you may not have. Snacks and h’ordeuvres. Old School jams by DJ Puke Skyhocker.
The LiFT is a bohemian bar located in downtown Des Moines’ Court Ave. District, featuring an award winning martini menu, extensive beer selection, top-notch cocktails, exquisite local art and one-of-a-kind atmosphere. Inspired by its historic location in the Kirkwood Hotel, the LiFT is named for the elevators that originally occupied the building. An antique elevator cage acts as the centerpiece of the bar, complemented by the patina of the elevator’s original ironwork. Globe lights inspired by those that originally dotted Court Ave. subtly illuminate the LiFT’s turn-of-the-century color palette, while its meticulous tile work evokes the structure of its surrounding streetscape. The walls at the LiFT are lined with artwork by a rotating cast of talented Des Moines artists. Opening exhibits featuring new art collections are held regularly with works of art often being available for purchase.
Since opening on May 30, 2001, the LiFT has challenged the conventions of a typical bar. It was one of the first notable bars to be non-smoking (seven years before the smoking ban), original local artwork hangs on the walls rather than neon beer signs, no televisions are blaring, and from the beginning has prominently served a wide selection of import and specialty beers alongside wildly popular martinis.
I, Derek Dean Muse Lambert, shall hereby reveal my first ever collection of paintings to be displayed publicly. Come laugh, cry, reflect on days gone by. Rejoice in the images, network with locals, and drink to elevation.
Opening reception Oct 3
Paintings on display through all of October and November.
Please join us Friday June 6th at 7pm for the opening of our new art exhibit by the wonderfully talented Ramona Muse.
You may recognize her from her super excellent pub quiz that she’s been hosting at The Lift every other Monday for the last year and a half, album covers that she has designed, Market Day downtown, and much more!
We are so jazzed to have that creativity on our walls every night for the next two months!
These paintings explore the complexities of trying to focus. These small pieces are painted using black light and glow in the dark paint, gouache and watercolor.
These works will be on display for June and July, the opening reception will be June 6th. Lets party!
Drop us a line.
